Attend Grand Hyatt Luau, Kaui, Hawaii

The sound of the pu kani or the conch shell greets all honored guests when they arrive for the Luau at the Grand Hyatt in Poipu on the Hawaiian Island of Kaui. After a sumptuous feast, rhythmic dances of Polynesia take the guests on a musical journey with songs and dances from the islands of Tahiti, Samoa, New Zealand and the heartbeat of Hawaii. Guests experience the beauty, romance and adventure at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Luau. Cocktails and music kick off the Luau with a traditional Hawaiian dinner buffet featuring an imu roasted pig (the imu yields the most mouthwatering morsels of cooked pork one can imagine), followed by a Polynesian review. The hula takes center stage in honor of Pele, the goddess of the volcano, danced to the rhythmic beat of the pahu (drum), the rich tones of the chant and the strumming of the ukulele. The Dances of Polynesia follow to introduce guests to the beautiful rhythmic hip movements of the Tahitian practitioners along with a stop in New Zealand which provides the audience with a sample of traditional Maori dances. The denouement of the evening is a virtual trip to Samoa featuring the most dangerous form of Polynesian dancing, Nifa Afi or the fire knife dance.
