Hike Cañon del Diablo to Picacho del Diablo, Baja California
Cañon del Diablo is a canyon in Sierra de San Pedro Mártir National Park, Baja California. It can be hiked form either the west (mountain route) or east (desert route - ~30 miles west of San Felipe). The canyon is often used to summit Picacho del Diablo, the highest peak in Baja California, measuring 3,096 metres (10,157 ft).
East route: There is a parking area in canyon that most use. Then hike over a small hill (1/4 mile) and start up the canyon. Not sure how safe it is to leavevehicles here.
The route up is cairned but not always visable, generally stay left going up the canyon. The first third of the route is mostly rocky with boulder hopping, gravel bars, rockfalls and brush. The second two thirds gets more brushy.
April and May are prime months to attempt the climb.
