Hike Gillespie Pass Circuit, Mount Aspiring National Park, New Zealand
Gillespie Pass Circuit in Mount Aspiring National Park is an excellent circuit for experienced hikers. The trail provides spectacular mountain scenery, alpine vegetation and river valleys filled with silver beech/tawhai. The side trip to Crucible Lake is exceptional.
The trail starts at Makarora and and broken down to the following segments:
Makarora to Young Hut: 20 km (6-7 hours)
Young Hut to Siberia Hut: 12 km (6-8 hours)
Side trip: Siberia Hut to Crucible Lake: 7 km (3-4 hours)
Siberia Hut to Makarora: 26 km (7-8 hours)
Siberia Hut to Kerin Forks Hut: 7 km (2-3 hours)
Kerin Forks to Makarora: 15 km (4-5 hours)
