Hike
Glorietta Canyon Trail, Borrego Springs, California
View Original Description
Glorietta Canyon is on the west side of the Borrego Valley about three miles south of Borrego Springs.
From the Christmas circle, take the S3, shortly after mile 9 turn right. This unmarked turnoff from Borrego Springs Road at mile 9 can be hard to find. At the T junction, turn right and follow the road.
When you reach the trailhead at the end of the road, there are three choices of hiking uphill into the canyon or up Glorietta wash on much flatter terrain.
Take the easy 1.6 mile round trip (400 feet of elevation gain) up the Wash to where it gets bouldery.
Take a moderate 1.0 mile round trip up Glorietta Canyon to a saddle at its head (400 feet of elevation gain).
Take a strenuous 3.5 mile loop, with 700 feet of elevation gain, up Glorietta Canyon, down Juanito Canyon, and back to the parking area by circling the base of the hills.
A high clearance car is recommended, but normally the road is suitable for most cars.
