Enjoy an easy, .25-mile stroll around Lake Tuendae. Wayside exhibits along the trail reveal the rich cultural history of this oasis on the preserve's western boundary.
Trailhead is at the Zzyzx parking area, 5 miles south of I-15 on Zzyzx Road.
The California State University, Desert Studies Center is 8 miles south of Baker Ca. in the Mojave Desert. The Center is located on the shore of Soda Dry Lake in an area commonly known as Zzyzx - a name created by Evangelist Dr. Curtis H. Springer. In the 30s. Dr. Springer staked a claim on the land. He planted palms and developed ponds. For about 30 years he operated a religious-oriented health resort.
