Hike Lamar River Trail, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

CAUTION: Grizzly bears frequent this area. This is a long 33-mile (53-km) there-and-back trail that follows the Lamar River all the way to Cold Creek. The trail stays on the east side of the river through the Lamar Valley and offers chances to see many of the park's large mammal species. The Lamar River is a tributary of the Yellowstone River, approximately 40 miles (64 km) long, in northwestern Wyoming in the United States. The river is located entirely within Yellowstone National Park. It's known for its open meadows, rolling hills, and the chance to see bison, elk, pronghorn, and potentially wolves. The trail follows the Lamar River, offering views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
