The longest via Ferrata in Switzerland is found near the town of Leukerbad ascending to the Daubenhorn summit at 2,941 meters. The first part of the adventure requires approximately 8 hours to climb from the trail head located about 1,000 meters down-mountain. While traversing Gemmi Pass, the route is considered a hybrid of hiking and true mountaineering finding 215 meters of steel ladders and over 2,000 meters of cable to aid the hikers in their quest to the mountain top complementing the route that stretches approximately 6 kilometers on the face of the colossal Daubenhorn.
