Hike Maynard Mine Trail, Palm Springs, California
The Maynard Mine Trail near Palm Springs starts out on the Murray Canyon trail and climbs steeply. There will be a rock pile marker indicating where to turn onto the Maynard Mine Trail. This trail is very steep and exposed but the reward at the top is the adventure of exploring the old tungsten mine.
This 7 mile hike is in-and-out with 2,200 ft. elevation gainand takes about 5 hours.
Trailhead in the Indian Canyons located on S. Palm Canyon Dr.. The trail is part of Indian Canyons park. There is an admission charge ($5-$9). More information at (760) 323-6018.
Starting Oct. 1, the Canyons are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Beginning July 7, Tahquitz Canyon and the Indian Canyons will only be open to the public 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Sept. 30.
