Morro Dois Irmãos (Two Brothers), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
View Original Description
TheDois Irmãos (Two Brothers Mountain) are the two iconic hills at the western end of the Ipanema/Leblon beaches in Rio de Janeiro. When looking at them from theIpanema Beach, it looks impossible to simply walk up this steep mountain. However there is a gentle slope on the back that is much easier than you’d think. If you’re only going to do one hike in Rio, this is the one.
At the top there are breathtaking views of the entire city including the Christ the Redeemer, Lagoon and Sugarloaf Mountain, and everything towards Rocinha, Sao Conrado and Barra de Tijuca.
The 3.8km (533m elevation gain) hike takes about 2 hours with the trailhead at the top of Vidigal favela.
By bus: Take the bus number 360, 2335, 2335 or 2338 from Leblon, Ipanema or Copacabana Beach
