The Mount Roberts Trail in Juneau, Alaska is a series of switchbacks that lead 4,000 feet up through a boreal forest to the top of the Mount Roberts Tramway. On the way there are breathtaking vistas and chances to see wildlife. There are many marmots, spruce grouse and other birds on this route, but also keep an eye out for bears.
The trail is well-known for its spectacular views of Douglas Island, Juneau, and the Gastineau Channel.
The 6th Street trail head is no longer maintained. Hikers must access Mt Roberts via the Basin Road trailhead.
