Hike, Ski or Ride Pig Iron Trail, Oregon

This trail is a left-over section of the old Two Rivers trail from Clearwater River over Pig Iron Mountain to the North Umpqua River. A steep hike with challenging terrain, the trail takes hikers through unique and interesting geological areas. At the end of the trail, turn left to hike about 0.25-mile uphill to the Pig Iron Lookout, a secondary lookout which is usually staffed in the summer. Visitors should ask permission before climbing up into the tower, where they’ll be greeted with spectacular views of the surrounding area, including Diamond Peak and Watson Falls. This trail offers opportunities for cross-country skiing, hiking, mountain biking and snowshoeing. From Roseburg, OR, take OR-138 east / northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard. At milepost 61, turn on Forest Road 4776. Go right in 0.25 mile onto Forest Road 4776-300. Turn left in 1 mile onto Forest Road 4776-350. This trail begins on right in 0.5 mile on Forest Road 4776-350 and ends at Forest Road 4780-100.
