Prospect Trail, Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada
View Original Description
Description:
Newly marked, the Prospect Trail in Valley of Fire State Park connects the Atlatl Rock area with the White Dome area. The trail passes through interesting sandstone formations, rock canyons, as well as an earthquake zone--so named because of the many house-sized boulders that lay precariously above the trail. If you want to play a fun game with your fellow hikers, compare what animals and shapes you think the rocks along the way look like!
Distance: 4.5 miles one-way
How to Get There: The Prospect Trail Trailhead in the Valley of Fire State Park is located 2.5 miles from the fee booth on the west side of the park, or 1.5 miles from the turnoff for the Visitor Center on the east side. It is a small gravel parking area with a cable gate across the gravel road that continues on from here.
CLOSURE NOTICE: Due to the heat from Mid May to the end pf Sept, rangers close all trails longer than 1 mile - which includes this one.
