Hike Saddle Peak, Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, Southern California

Saddle peak is the second highest in the Santa Monica mountains, after Sandstone peak. After a moderately difficult climb, you will reach the peak where you would enjoy great views of the LA basing and the surroundings. There are several ways to do this hike. The first time I went to Saddle Peak, I did a 10 mile hike where I started on the Topanga ridge trail, hiked by the Nike missile base, and join the saddle peak trail and hit the peak, then take stunt high trail down back to parking. There are numerous places on stunt road that you can start the hiking from. You are at liberty to either make it as long or as short as you want. Once you are by the rock outcroppings, don't forget look toward northwest for a great view of mountains, which is pictured in the main picture of this guide. with proper lighting it looks like the garden of Eden. :) sadly there is no bench or anything at the top, to enjoy the view. If someone finds out what those towers do up there, let me know! Source: EveryTrail
