Hike
Shoreline Trail, Nevada
View Original Description
This trail involves a few different elevations, a bit of rock scrambling, a few narrow tunnels, and if you’re lucky, the opportunity to see white owls nesting. When you get into White Owl Canyon, just be sure to keep your voices down in case any of the residents are sitting on their nests. Even if you don’t see an owl, you’ll see a nest or two.
Distance: 3 miles
How to Get There:
Drive out East Lake Mead Parkway and pass through the Lake Mead NRA fee booth. Bearing right, drive about two miles, then turn left onto the old marina road. Again staying right, you'll follow the road all the way down to where there used to be a bustling boat landing. Now, there is no water to launch watercraft into. Head down past the concrete barriers and turn right onto the Shoreline Trail, which is marked by rocks lining the path. The trail is well-maintained and easy to follow as it leads along what used to be the shoreline only a couple of years ago.
TIPS:
Fee required to enter Lake Mead National Recreation Area
