Smith Fork is a great Lake Powell slot canyon with lengthy stretches of narrows including one section that is especially deep and enclosed. Although the canyon never turns into a true slot canyon, it has long sections of beautiful narrows, and several interesting side canyons. It is about 5.5 miles to the end of the narrows and 7.5 miles to Lake Powell. To get to the trailhead, turn east off of Highway 276 just south of Ticaboo. If road conditions allow continue a short way then turn left to cross Hansen Creek. Continue to a T intersection and turn right at Danish Knoll. Otherwise hike 2.5 miles across from 276 to the canyon.
