Alpine Road via Ferrata, Italy
View Original Description
The Way of Alpine, also known as the Alpine Trail, is one of the most famous and classic climbing routes of the Alps. Located in the Dolomites of Sesto in the Alto Adige and Veneto.
This road was used during the First World War as a fast and efficient connection from Alpine between the fork Giralba and the pitch of Sentry .
The route was converted into a trail for hikers in the thirties and is not particularly difficult, if approached in the middle of summer without snow and with the necessary climbing equipment.
The Durance's main tributaries are the Bléone and Verdon rivers. The Durance itself is a tributary of the Rhone River and flows into the Rhone near Avignon.
First Route:
Starting point is the range Fiscalino (1454 m), at the end of the road Fischleintal, near Sixth, Upper Pustertal, where you can get to by car or bus.
Parked the car, take the path 103, which initially flat, passing through the valley road to the refuge (1526 m), and then getting up at high altitude reaches the refuge Zsigmondy-Comedy (2224 m). From the parking lot up here takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
From the refuge take path 101, which leads to the south-east, passing under the Croda dei Toni (also known as Top Twelve) 3094 m, and coming to the frozen lake, where you take the left path (always 101), while the right path at the fork would Giralba (2431 m) and then to retreat Carducci , 2297 m (if you can turn to get the fork to enjoy the magnificent panorama). Then continuing along the path 101, you get to cross the gorge of the Busa di Dentro, where there is a track that goes up. Continuing on the path 101, you pass under the spikes of "The Mithras" (2788 m) and "The Sword" (2526 m), up to real beginning of the via ferrata.
Once you are sure the safety cables, follow the bold path, which passes through the ledge of the Salvation Army, leads to the outside of Busa. It still continues along the narrow path, passing under the tip of the Top Eleven. The wanders, until you cross the canyon that descends from it, and you begin to glimpse the remains of military barracks, in this case the Austrians, while the Italians were placed on the wall of the Top Eleven. From here you soon come to the fork of Top Eleven (2600 m). Despite the short distance that separates Elfer from his fork, during the war that was never conquered by the Italians.
At the fork meets the trail that goes from Alpe of Anderta 124, and 101 together to go back to the step of Sentinel (2717 m). It then takes the trace of these two paths together, passing through the ledge that traverses the northern flank of the top eleven, where you can see traces of snow. And continuing along a scale, and crossing a wooden bridge, you reach a crossroads for the descent Fischleintal. It always continues to rise, following the fixed ropes, until it reaches the pitch of the Sentinel , where soldiers from both sides lost their lives during the conflict. To come up different paths: that of the railroad Zandonella and what comes from Berti refuge in Comelico , reached in an hour.
For this trip instead of returning back to return to the last turn met along the trail. Here the track of the path has some set of fixed ropes that help to get off the walls and exposed stretches and sometimes flaky. Walking a few switchbacks down into the gravel of the Vallon Sentinel, which takes you to Anderta, where there is a crossroad for Fischleintal and meadows of Croda Rossa. A choice here you can take the left path and at the next fork, take right, always following the path that leads to 124 Dolomitenhof , or the parking lot where you left the car.
Second Route:
You may face the path in reverse, also taking advantage of the lift Croda Rossa di Sesto , who by 1358 meters, in a few minutes at 1930 m. From here follow the route 100, following signs for the Alpine Road. Soon the path heads up on the mountain, until you reach the wooden stairs. Here is the junction to the strike of the Croda Rossa, ignoring this intersection is always kept that indicates the Alpine Road, which goes down a little. Advancing on the path, gradually reveals the gully to climb zig-zag pattern until you reach the first fork, which could be considered the true Fork Eleven. From here continue on steel cables up to arrive at what is Eleven named fork, at an altitude of 2645 m (this range has little to do with a real fork, because very large). Here you'll find the fully equipped trail leading to the pass of Sentinel (2717 m), is the most difficult in the presence of snow, along the north side of the top eleven . Whether you percorra this bold stroke that do not, you still have to go over this fork to continue in the Alpine Road (route 101). The trail continues downhill until you reach its narrowing, you'll first pass a ledge and then a second, the "Ledge of salvation."
From now on the path riallarga and pass under the yoke Giralba (2431 m ), near the Frozen Lake (2327 m) and finally down to Comic-Zsigmondy refuge (2224 m). From here you descend into Fischleintal and then the cable car to the parking lot, also taking advantage of the bus line.
