Hike to
Botanical Beach, Juan de Fuca Provincial Park, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada
View Original Description
Botanical Beach in Juan de Fuca Provincial Park has crystal-clear tide pools that dot the rocky shoreline. These tide pools are formed in depressions along the coast, filled with seawater that gets trapped as the tide recedes.Located in the intertidal zone, these pools are exposed during low tides and submerged at high tides and during storms. Ranging from mere inches to a few feet deep and across, these small basins are home to a variety of resilient sea creatures.Barnacles, mussels, anemones, urchins, starfish, crustaceans, and clams thrive in this dynamic environment.
