Devils Punchbowl Waterfall in Arthur's Pass National Park is spectacular fall (131 metres) that can be seen from the main road, but a walk to the base of the waterfall is well worth it.
Start at the Punchbowl car park (signposted off the highway) and hike to the bridge over Devils Punchbowl Creek, which has a good view of the waterfall. Then take a series of steps climb 150 vertical metres to a viewing platform at the base of this spectacular waterfall. Take about an hour.
