Hike or Mule Ride to El Salto del Limón, Dominican Republic
The 52 meter El Salto del Limón waterfall is located in Dominican Republic's Samana Province. It's a 1.5 mile hike though the jungle to the top of the falls (or you can take mule/horse rides). The water flow varies to the amount of rain. The path can be muddy as it cuts across a broad river before climbing into the palm-thick mountains.
The river/pool offers a refreshing swim in the water and watch the divers jump off the waterfall. Go futher down the river to another waterfall which has less people.
To avoid the tour-bus crowds amke sure to go early morning or late afternoon.
