Hike to Emerald Lakes, Tongariro National Park, New Zealand
Emerald lakes is located along the Tongariro Northern Circuit & Tongariro Alpine Crossing trail in Tongariro National Park, New Zealand. It is considered to be the most popular one-day hikes in New Zealand. The lake’s unique color comes from the high concentration of minerals in the water.
The hike to Emerald Lake is 8.7 km one-way and additional 1 km to Blue Lake.
There are toilets at 1.3 km (Mangatepopo Hut) and last one at 4.25 km.
