Hike to Fire Wave, Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada

Take this short, accessible trail to get to one of the most stunning sandstone formations in the park: the fire wave. An easy 1.25-mile roundtrip trail winds through the reds and oranges of Aztec sandstone. To preserve this fragile and unique area, please stay on the trail, and do not walk on the wave formation at the end of the trail. Distance: 1.25 miles round-trip How to Get There: Take I-15 north from Las Vegas for 37 miles. Take Exit 75 (Valley of Fire/Lake Mead). Turn right (east) onto Valley of Fire Highway. Stay on Valley of Fire Highway for about 15 miles. The Visitors Center is 4 miles ahead on your left. Fire Wave is located directly across from Valley of Fire State Park parking lot #3. CLOSURE NOTICE: Due to the heat from Mid May to the end pf Sept, rangers close all trails longer than 1 mile - which might include this one. TIPS: The Visitors Center has updated weather conditions and drinking water Hike best between October and April due to heat Fee required for Valley of Fire State Park Do not walk on the wave formation at the end of the trail
