Hike to Fort Berkeley, Antigua
The first reference to the defence of English Harbour occurs in 1704 when Fort Berkeley was listed as one of the twenty forts established around the coast of Antigua. Fort Berkeley is an incredible structure, defended by no less than 25 large cannons to protect English Harbour and the lands of Antigua.
The trail starts at the Superyacht Dock, behind the Copper and Lumber Store hotel in Nelson’s Dockyard. Along the way there are some real picture postcard opportunities.
Hike the rest of the way around the pennicula to Windward Bay Beach and jump in the water to cool off.
