Hike to
Rifugio Torre Di Pisa, Italian Dolomites
View Original Description
Take the 2-3 hour hike to the Torre di Pisa hut in the Italian Dolomites. It's the only mountain refuge in the Latemar group and is perched on Cavignon peak at 2671 Meters a.s.l.
The sight you can enjoy from there is really incomparable.
Near the hut you can see a 20-meter-high leaning pinnacle which looks like the famous leaning tower of the cathedral of Pisa. It is just because of this likeness that the refuge is called "Torre di Pisa".
It has barebones accommodations consisting of 20 bunk beds split between two dormitories, and one shared bathroom.
The hut is opened from June to October. In winter the refuge is reachable only on skis.
Starting point for the ascent: Passo Pampeago (1993 m.)
Height difference: 678 m
Most of the walking is on good, well-marked footpaths and mule tracks. However mountain equipment and some pre-trip training are recommended.
