Hike to Samuelsons Rocks, Joshua Tree National Park, California

Samuelson Rocks is a small hill in the west part of Joshua Tree National Park. Samuelson lived near Quail Springs with his wife Margaret and worked for Bill Keys during the 1920s. During his time there, he chiseled personal manifesto’s into the desert patina of cleanly sheared rocks nearby. Along the hike to Samuelson's Rocks is a long abandoned homestead and an rusty old car. The Faith Rock is the only rock that Samuelson signed his name to. It is also the only rock at desert floor level. Start the hike either at the pull off on Park Blvd and hike the creeks to the rocks (approx 4.5 miles out and back). Or take the longer hike starting at Quail Springs Trailhead.
