Hike to
Scorpius Arch, Joshua Tree National Park, California
View Original Description
Scorpius Arch is a nice little arch in the Joshua Tree NP backcountry just south of the Sheephole Valley Wilderness and Hwy 62 and north of Coxcomb Mountains.
Legend has it, the etymology of the name is thus: a night sky photographer was at the location and captured some magnificent shots of the arch, with the Milky Way above and the constellation of Scorpio in the sky all night long. There are also real life scorpions here.:)
This is an off trail route to the arch. There is a Call Box marking the limited parking area.
