Tanque Verde Falls are a series of waterfalls in Tanque Verde Canyon east of Tanque Verde, Arizona and Tucson, Arizona. Tanque Verde Ridge of the Rincon Mountains lies to the south and Agua Caleinte Hill to the north. The falls lie south of Redington Road which connects the Tucson Valley to the southwest with the San Pedro River valley to the east.
Visitors now have access to three improved parking areas (lower, middle and upper trailheads), four new picnic sites, and one vault restroom. Trailer off-loading and trash service is available at the Middle Tanque Verde Recreation Site.
A parking area and switchbacking trail for the falls is maintained by the Southern Arizona Hiking Club.
New trails include the 2.0 mile Tanque Verde Rim Loop, which is suitable for beginner trail users. A 0.3 mile portion of the this trail, reached directly from the middle trailhead, provides access to an overlook of the largest seasonal waterfall in the canyon. Visitors are encouraged to use this trail to view the falls when flash flooding is possible.
Camping is not allowed at day use parking areas and within 650 ft. of the road in the immediate Tanque Verde Falls area. Dispersed camping is allowed on Redington Road beyond mile 4.6. Always follow the Dispersed Camping Best Practices.
