Hike to Travertine Palms, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California

Travertine Palms Wash is an isolated section of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in the northeast corner of of the park (and San Diego County). The hike is trhought h wash with no real path. Find the best route to hike, sometimes in the wash, but mostly just out of the wash. Except for a private road along the Riverside County line, there are no roads. To get to the trialhead from Borrego Springs, drive east on County Road S-22 to Highway 86 in Salton City and turn north. Turn left at Avenue 86 at the Riverside County line, just past Travertine Rock. Drive down this dirt road for about 1/4 mile to a gate which can be locked (park outside the gate).
