Hike to Unkar Overlook and Ruins, Grand Canyon, Arizona
Hike from the Colorado River in Grand Canyon Nattional Park to Unkar Overlook and Ruins.
This hike is either accessed from the Tanner beach (accessed from a river rafting trip on the Colorado River) or via the Tanner trail. For river rafters, you can beach at river mile 71 on river left, at dry Cardenas Creek.
The hike is along the Escalante trail and goes West along the Colorado river all the way to the Unkar mesa. At Cardenas Creek the trail go up a brief climb to near the top of Unkar mesa.
Amazing Hilltop Archaeology Ruin just above Cardenas Creek camp on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon National Park. This Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan) ruin is estimated to be around 1,000 years old.
