The Uncle Jim Trail is a 5.0 mile (8.0 km) round-trip moderate hike with a few minor elevation changes. The trail winds through the forest to a point overlooking the canyon with views of views of Roaring Springs Canyon, Bright Angel Canyon far below and the North Kaibab Trail switchbacks. The trailhead is at the North Kaibab Trail parking lot.
The trails highest point is at 8,350 ft (2,550 m) and has an elevation gain of 275 ft (84 m).
It takes 3 hours approximate round-trip hiking time. This trail is also used by mules.This trail is a good one to take during this period when the temperature is low (Spring and Fall).
Access to this part of the park by car is seasonal, traditionally open from mid-May to mid-October or depending on snowcover from the previous winter.
