Windsurf or Kitesurf
Barbados (Silver Rock, Silver Sands & Long Beach)
View Original Description
Blessed with constant trade winds, an average temperature of 30 degrees and a warm sea it has attracted windsurfers and kitesurfers from around the world. The best spots on the island are on the southeast coast near the airport. This ares has reliable cross shore winds making it a safe place to learn to kite surf.
Silver Rock Beach is one of the best kitesurfing beaches on the island. The beach is named after the looming silver rock. The wind can be a little fluky i on the indise due to the rock. Riders who end up downwind can come in at Silver Sands Resort (home of Club Mistral/Skyriders), or in a worst-case scenario, farther downwind at Rescue Beach.
Long Beach in Barbados is over a mile long and is another good kitesurfing beach on the island. The beach is east of Silver Rock Beach. The crowd-free beach and calmer waves makes it a better choice for beginners. Great opportunity for downwinders from Long Beach to Silver Rock, or farther to Rescue Beach.
Silver Sands (West of Silver Rock Beach) is where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea on the southern tip of the island and is another good place to surf, windsurf and kitesurf.
