CPR
View Original Description
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, or CPR, is a life-saving technique used on a person that has suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. The technique is designed to maintain blood flow to the victim’s heart and brain until trained emergency help can arrive with sophisticated equipment to aid in the preservation of their life. According to the American Heart Association, the leading cause of death among adults is sudden cardiac arrest. Should a person suffer a sudden stoppage of their heart in the presence of a capable person trained in CPR the probability of their survival is significantly increased. CPR training is available at a number of outlets including live instruction at schools, hospitals, fire stations as well as on-line certification. Special instruction for children and refresher courses for those already possessing the basic skills are also popular. Chances are you may never need to use the skills you’ll learn but if you ever do find yourself in a situation where you can make a difference you’ll be grateful you took the time to know and understand the simple things you can do to preserve someone’s life. It very well may be a loved one that is stricken with sudden cardiac arrest and your training might just allow them to survive.
