Learn Italian

More than 85 million people around the world use Italian as either their primary or secondary language. Another of the Romance languages, rooted in ancient Latin, Italian is prevalent in Italy, Switzerland, San Marino and the Vatican. Large colonies of Italian speakers are found in a number of other countries, including Croatia, Slovenia, France, Libya and Somalia. Immigrant communities in Australia along with North and South America still cling to their Italian language heritage. Many of the world’s great works of literature were composed in Italian, including those poetic works that sprung from the Sicilian School in the 13th century to be followed by generations of prolific Italian authors such as Dante Alighieri (“The Divine Comedy”), Giovanni Boccaccio and their Italian brethren. Much of the written history, sermons, hymns and poetry attributable to the Roman Catholic orders of Franciscans and Dominicans were penned in Italian. Operatic performances are most often presented in Italian, much of the world’s art treasures have their origins from native Italian speakers and some of the world’s great cuisine is derived from the Italian culture. Whether your goal is to be able to speak and understand Italian to make your dream trip of a lifetime to Italy even more memorable or to be able to better understand the ancient writings, artwork, musical productions or recipes grounded in the culture, adding Learn Italian to your list will insure the fulfillment of your fantasy.
