Off-road
Boathouse Cove Road, Lake Mead, Nevada
View Original Description
Boathouse Cove Road is a 9-mile backcountry road that runs from Northshore Road south to the Virgin Basin of Lake Mead. Although the road starts out fairly flat, it does get more difficult, so a 4WD vehicle is recommended. Hiking near this road includes beautiful mountains and scenic washes as well as two backcountry campgrounds--one of which boasts a spectacular view of the Overton Arm. Please note that this area is very remote and can reach temperatures of around 120 degrees Fahrenheit in summer. If you decide to explore, be properly prepared.
TIPS:
Backcountry travel is not recommended in summer at Lake Mead NRA.
