Coyote Canyon Road goes through Goler Canyon and enters Death Valley National Park. Goler Canyon Road continues west from Warm Springs Rd into Panamint Valley. Barker Ranch, hideout of the infamous Manson Family is up a short spur road. Although mined for talc as recently as the early 1980s.
The route crosses the summit of the Panamints at 4,328-foot-high Mengel Pass, via Goler Canyon with turnoffs to Butte Valley and Warm Springs Canyon which drops into West Side Road.
Woods Canyon, situated on the west side of Butte Valley, is this rarely visited mining camp from the early mining area of Death Valley.
Vehicle needed: Rough 4WD. For experienced 4WD drivers only. Section over both sides of Mengel Pass is challenging, steep and rutted. Canyon narrows at west end is sometimes impassable after floods.

Tunoff (East) to Striped Butte & Butte Valley Rd: 6.4 miles
Turnoff (West) to Campsite: 6.7 miles
Turnoff (South) to Campsite: 8.1 miles
Turnoff (South) to Wood Canyon: 8.7 miles
Wood Canyon Mining Site: 9.7 miles.
Very 4WD after this
