Off-road Cut Across Trail to 17 Palms & 5 Palms Oasis, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California

The Cut Across Trail is across San Felipe Wash from the Buttes Pass Road - which connects to Hwy 78 in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. This trail provides access to the Arroyo Salado Palm Oasis's (17 Palms, 5 Palms and Una Palms). Head north on Third Wash from San Felip Wash for 0.75 miles and take the right fork that goes out of the wash. At 2.3 miles there is a right turn to Military Was Trail - continue straight. Shortly after there will be trails for Fault Wash and Verde Wash - sontinue straight. At mile 4.7 turn slight left into a wash (don't take the hard left at the wash). At mile 5.8 the wash will split and there will be a trail going in between these two washes. At mile 5.85 you will pass through another was - continue straight. The trail winds in and out of Tules Wash until you get to mile 8 (a short hike to Una Palma is location along a north wash several hundres hards before mile 8). Here there is a hard left turn up another small wash and take right fork at mile 8.45). This leads to Una Palma and 5 Palms (at mile 9). It's another 0.85 miles to 17 palsm to the north. After 17 Palms head south on Arroyo Salado to the Pumpkin Patch.
