Fish Creek Wash is a great off-road track in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California. Several noteworthy points of interest that can be incorporated into half- or full-day trips are nearby.
The trail start at the end of Split Mountain Road and goes through Split Mountain. Fish Creek Primitive Campground is along this part of the trail.
One of the first stops are the Wind Caves. It's a 1-mile hike to the caves and is well worth it.
Elephant Knees is a mudhill ridge with thick fluted ridges that look like the knees of elephants. The flat top of Elephant Knees is a layer of marine sediments. It is visable from Fish Creek for for a closer look hike Mudhill Wash for a closer look, but NO climbing is allowed on it.
Sandstone Canyon is further on along the wash. This is a great narrow dead-end canyon that you can drive through. The entrance to the canyon is about 12 miles up Fish Creek Wash starting where Fish Creek intersect Split Mountain Road.
Split Rock is the last main attractions along the wash.
