San Evaristo Inland Road (Mission Trail), Baja California Sur, Mexico
View Original Description
Just south of San Evaristo is a 4WD road that goes inland up the mountains and eventually gets to Hwy 1 via a few different routes. This road goes by some old mission ruins.
The road is initially steep and eroded as it heads up into the mountains — but should be no problem for a high clearance 4x4. Once you get to the top there are great views of the Sea of Cortez. The orad passes mountain villages of Mantancitas, El Bosque, Primer Agua and a few unnamed ones. The orad is very slow going in most places (averaging 5-10 miles per hour).
The route ranges from 50-100+ miles (around 30 on rough roads).
The first fork is at approx mile 12 near La Soledad. Reset mileage.
Taking the left (south) fork will arrive at Hwy 1 at Las Pocitas in approx 42 miles.

If you are up for a rel adventure it's approx 20 miles furhter on this road to the orginal site of the mission which has some ruins remaining.
Reset milage here once you are back on the "main" road.
