Steel Pass Road, California
View Original Description
Steel Pass (Steele Pass) is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 1.558m (5,111ft) above the sea level located in the Death Valley National Park. It's a rough 4WD trail with the route’s north end in Eureka Valley at the foot of ever-changing Eureka Dunes.
The first minor 4WD section is through the narrow, high-walled Dedeckera Canyon.
The next stop is Marble Bath Canyon where a cast iron bathtub remains buried in a wash and filled with blue marbles. Visitors continue to keep it stocked with a sea of blue marbles, and sometimes even throw in a rubber duck or two for good measure.
At the south end of the road find the friendly (and naked) devotees of Saline Valley’s palm-shaded, user-developed warm springs.
Steel Pass Road then links up with the famous 4WD Lippencott Road and continue to Racetrack and Hidden valleys.
