4X4 to the Brooklyn Mine & Gold Standard Mine off the Brooklyn Mine Jeep Trail (aka Mecca Dale Road) just outside of Joshua Tree National Park. Other mines in the area are Los Angeles Mine and Rose of Peru Mine. Start the drive at the dirt Old Dale Road turn off from the paved Pinto Basin Road in Joshua Tree National Park. Turn onto Brooklyn Mine Jeep Trail 11.4 miles down Old Dale Road. Drive 3.7 miles to the wash and then turn right at the JT 1942 trail sign. The Rose of Peru Mine is reach in another 1.8 miles. Interesting but the other mines are much better. Take the next right folk after the Rose of Peru mine and reach the Gold Standard Mine in about 0.5 miles. Drive another 0.25 miles to reach the Brooklyn Mine. All of these mines will require some rugged hiking to explore. Both the Gold Standard Mine and Brooklyn Mine go deep into the mountain and are open - but this can be very dangerous. Avoid the pink hills at the Brooklyn Mine since they may contain chemicals. A vehicle with 4 wheel drive and high clearance is required to get to these mines.
