For over 60 years people have been bringing in rocks in order to spell out their names and other messages in the desert. Valley of the Names started during the Second World War when soldiers trained in the area of Yuma, Arizona, expressed their feelings by placing stones on a piece of deserted land. Although, the tradition started decades ago, people still leave their special note to a loved ones today.
