Off-road to Virginia Dale Mine, 29 Palms, California

Virginia Dale Mine is located just off Gold Crown Road southeast of 29 Palms and just north of Joshua Tree National Park. This property consisted of one mining location and one mill site. The mine was developed to a depth of 300 feet. It operated intermittently since about 1896 with the main periods of activity in 1908, 1928-29 and 1934-37. A 40-ton mill on the property treated the ore by amalgamation and cyanidation. Water was pumped 5 miles from an Old Dale well.
