Pet a Crocodile in Paga, Ghana

Located in the north-eastern border of Ghana, Paga is a sacred crocodile sanctuary. Paga is known for its sacred crocodile ponds where most visitors are surprised that they can touch a live crocodile. The local population homelessly (so far) bathes and swims in the same ponds with deadly crocodiles. The friendly relationship between the crocodiles and humans continue to baffle many people. It is normal for the people of Paga and a miracle to outsiders to see children riding on the backs of the crocodiles in the various dams and even more common to see tourists holding crocodile tails or even sitting on them. Paga is a town in northern Ghana, lying where the nation's main north-south road reaches the Burkina Faso border.
