Golf on Kauai, Hawaii

The Hawaiian Island of Kauai is home to a number of world class golf courses that are among the most scenic in the islands while challenging and enjoyable for golfers of all abilities. Among the fine offerings are the 2 Championship courses at Princeville including the jewel that is known as the Prince Course, rated the top golf course in all of Hawaii by Golf Digest Magazine. The course was named for Prince Albert, son of Hawai’i’s King Kamehameha IV and Queen Emma. The Makai course at Princeville, while not a beneficiary of the accolades accruing to the Prince is a more than worthy test. The Par 3 third hole provides lasting memories with its tee box situated 100 feet above the green fronted by a large lake. The facilities at Princeville are world class, befitting their alignment with the Princeville Resort, consistently rated among the top destinations in the world. Poipu Bay Golf Course was the site of the PGA’s Grand Slam of Golf pairing the annual winners of golf’s 4 major tournaments from 1994 to 2006. The ocean links style course features 85 bunkers, multiple water hazards and tricky winds which make it one of the most spectacular and challenging golf experiences in Hawaii. World class service at the Golf Course provides golfers with a heavy dose of “Aloha” at the Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed facility. Kauai Lagoons Golf Club provides the option of a Jack Nicklaus designed track and a beginner’s course that is fun and straightforward. Fairways on the traditionally styled Kiele Mauka and Moana Championship course interlace impressive promontories with magnificent vistas above the harbor and Kalapaki Bay. The Kiele Championship course boasts the longest stretch of ocean front holes in all of Hawaii. The Kiele Waikahe Nine inland course with its open fairways and relative lack of forced carries makes it a great choice for juniors, beginners, or those desiring a less demanding round of golf. Among other options for golfers visiting the Garden Isle is the county owned golf course at Wailua, near the airport in Lihue. Golfers shouldn’t let the bargain price and no frills approach fool them as this championship caliber course has been included as among the top 15 courses in all of the Hawaiian Islands. Kiahuna Golf Club, designed by legendary architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr. incorporates remnants of an ancient Hawaiian village into his design. The prolific Hawaiian course designer Robin Nelson presents Puakea Golf Course as a worthy competitor for rounds played on the island of Kauai. This relatively young golf course has been included on the Top 50 Public Golf Courses as determined by Golf Magazine. Golf in Hawaii can be a dream come true. Include Play Golf on Kauai on your list and start working on your game to get the most out of your rounds once you reach the beautiful island in the Pacific.
