Golf Pro-Am Tournament
View Original Description
Most professional golf tournaments include a day during the tournament week where amateurs can tee their ball up alongside the pros. Some of the tournaments held around the world include multiple day competitions with teams of amateurs and golf professionals competing simultaneously in conjunction with the individual stroke play championship held among the professional golfers. The more famous of these ProAm events include the A.T.&T. Championship at Pebble Beach and the Humana Classic held in the Palm Springs, California area on the PGA Tour. However, opportunities to compete alongside LPGA touring pros, Senior Pros on the PGA’s Championship Tour or at the Hall of Famers at the LPGA Legend’s Tour events can be just as fun and rewarding. Developmental tours including the Nationwide Tour regularly hold ProAm days and ProAm competitions are also part of the men’s and ladies European Tour, Asian, Australian or Korean Tour and Canadian Tour tournaments.
Entry fees vary depending on the popularity and prestige of the tournament but most of the funds raised from these popular ProAm events are designated for charitable contributions by the tournament organizers. Amateur competitors are usually introduced to their professional partners at a “Pairings Party” the evening before the competition begins. Tee prizes to memorialize what for many is an opportunity of a lifetime are provided to the amateur participants.
Perhaps you have a dream to play golf alongside a professional golfer to evaluate your game in the light of theirs or just watch these experts from an up close and personal vantage point. Consider finding a tournament with a ProAm competition close to your home or in conjunction with your next trip to a different part of the world and include it on your list. You might just make a friendship that will last a lifetime and probably pick up some pointers to enhance your game at the same time.
