Cala Goloritzè, Sardinia

Cala Goloritzé beach is located along northeastern coast of Sardinia near the town of Baunei. The beach, one of the most beautiful of Sardinia, is famous for its high pinnacle 143 meters above the sea. The beach was created by a landslide in 1962 and is made up of small pebbles and sand.
Another feature of the beach is the natural arch that opens on the right side of the bay. In a ravine in the rocks in the beach is also a source of fresh water that flows into the sea from underground.
The beach can be reached overland starting from Santa Maria Navarrese beach. From Baunei, follow the same road that leads to the Altopiano del Golgo (Golgo Plateau), until you get to a car park with a bar. From there go on foot along a path for 1 /12 hours to the bay. You can also go there by boat, bearing in mind that you cannot land directly on the beach, where as you can in the bays next to it.
The coast near the beach (200 m from the shore) is completely closed to traffic of motorboats to preserve beach pollution and assault of tourists.
To get to the beach by sea, the most convenient and less demanding, are available for transport services and rental of boats from the harbor of Arbatax , Santa Maria Navarrese (municipality of Baunei).
Cala Goloritzè was declared a "Natural Monument" of the Region of Sardinia in 1993, and then named "Italian National Monument" in 1995.
