Luquillo Beach, Puerto Rico
View Original Description
Luquillo is a town of Puerto Rico located in the northeast coast, northwest of Fajardo; and east of Rio Grande. Luquillo Beach (Balneario Monserrate) is a huge plantation of majestic coconut palms shades more than a mile of fine and shimmering sand. It is one of the most popular and nicest public beaches in the San Juan area.
Recommend staying on the beach near the parking lot and not the kiosks.
Due to a fringing reef, there are no waves to speak of, so it's a perfect beach for young kids - the beach has lot of lifeguards. The beach has beach chair rentals, cafeterias, public bathrooms with showers, access for disabled people, and an ample parking lot.
Another beach in the area is Monserrate Beach, which is one of the beaches most frequented by the locals.
In 2006 El Balneario de Luquillo (The Luquillo Beach) was pronounced the most popular one in Puerto Rico. The beach is next to El Yunque National Forest.
