Travertine Hot Spring, Bridgeport, California
View Original Description
Travertine Hot Springs is a series of natural hot springs. Popular in the Eastern Sierras, Travertine Hot Springs are most notable because of the multicolored travertine formations associated with the pools. Travertine Hot Springs offers several soaking opportunities and presents intriguing geology in a beautiful setting. The upper hot spring has a small concrete pool built adjacent to it. This pool presents the best soaking opportunity, since it is about 105 degrees F. and shaped like a bathtub. It’s also the most popular spring, however. The lower pools are formed from water dripping off the ridge of travertine into small. There are several of these pools, ranging in temperature from 105 to 90 degrees F., and all are only a foot or two deep.
