Ride Bike along
Hermit Road, Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
View Original Description
If you enjoy bicycling, Hermit Road is probably the best place in the park. There is far less traffic out there since private vehicles are not permitted between March 1 and November 30.
Ride a bycicle along Hermit Road, a scenic route along the west end of Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim which follows the rim for 7.4 miles (11.9 km) one-way out to Hermits Rest. Average trail grade from Monument Creek Vista to Hermit's Rest is 4%.
There are nine designated viewpoints along the road. Use your own or rent one from Bright Angel Bicycles near the Grand Canyon Visitor Center. There are some steep sections along this route, so be prepared for an arduous ride.
During the winter months of December, January and February, Hermit Road is open to all vehicles.
