Run a Mud Run 10K

They call it “playing dirty” but a Mud Run 10K is a serious challenge with a fun twist. Fashioned after training regimens of the United States Marine Corps, Mud Runs are regularly held across the USA and Canada and starting to appear in Australia, Europe and other world-wide locations. Every course is different; the only common denominator is the length, 10 kilometers. Race organizers provide all sorts of obstacles to the runners, including mud pits (hence the name), jumps over hay bales, tunnel crawls, water hazards and stretches up and down hills. Yes, a 10K Mud Run is about speed and endurance but mostly survival. Many of the Runs allow participants to compete as part of a relay team or take on the entire 6.2 miles alone. You might be able to satisfy your dream of competing in an extreme physical fitness challenge by including a 10K Mud Run on your list. Training for a traditional 10K race will help you prepare but don’t be surprised by the exponential increase in the challenge once all the obstacles are thrown in. Finishing a Mud Run 10K can make for conversation topics that will last your lifetime.
