View Original Description
Thought of as the dividing line between “runners” and “joggers”, the 10 minute mile is a serious goal of those hoping to transcend one category to the other. If you could average a 10 minute mile for a marathon distance (26.2 miles) your time to finish the race would be under 4 ½ hours putting you in the upper range of the best times of participants in those grueling tests of endurance and skill. However, before you can even consider such a quest you must first run one mile in 10 minutes or less, a time considered achievable by most everyone of average physical ability. Training involves your muscles and lungs and both components must be brought along in concert to achieve the goal. Most coaches encourage runners to start slowly and build their foundation gradually to insure a successful attainment of the goal. Incrementally, a combination of walking and running is to be combined with more running and less walking until the runner can complete a 10 minute continuous run without regard to the distance covered. After the goal of running for 10 minutes straight is reached, the pace needs to be quickened until the runner achieves the target of a full mile completed in 10 minutes or less. Add the dream to Run One Mile in 10 Minutes to your list and start down the path of greatly improved physical fitness. You might find challenge you have been seeking to start building toward even greater achievements.
